Shortly before the dragon’s breath reaches the desert valley floor, there are a few natural indicators that summer is nearly here. The Sweet Acacia and the Palo Verde are just two of them.
Once we smell the deliciously fragrant yellow blossom balls of the Sweet Acacia, it is certain that summer is only weeks away. It will forever remind me of the hot August day that we moved here from the Rocky Mountains.
The color of the green skinned Palo Verde with brilliant yellow flowers is so naturally saturated against the contrasting blue sky that my visual sensors are almost overwhelmed. A breezy day turns into a snowfall of sun colored blossoms.
And now the natural indicators, the dragon’s breath and the air conditioner have all indicated that summer is here.
